Charity Partners

To ensure that whilst people came to us for support, they were able to access some of the world’s best experts in their field to support their decision-making. Now, we partner with some of the world’s most renowned fertility clinics, sperm banks, law firms and charity organisations, ensuring our community have the best access possible to expert information.

To support our organisation and the work we do, we partner with trusted, like-minded organisations who have the same ethos and values as us. They work hard towards being as LGBT+ inclusive as they can be, support the work we do and provide further medical and professional guidance to our community on their paths to motherhood or parenthood.

Tommy’s

Tommy’s is the largest charity in the UK carrying out research into the causes of miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth. They work with researchers and health professionals to find the causes and treatments to save babies’ lives, as well as providing trusted pregnancy and baby loss information and support. Keep up to date with Tommy’s research and campaigns. The Planning for Pregnancy tool is an online quiz that provides tailored information on things you can do to help you prepare and have a healthy pregnancy. It also provides a supportive email follow-up with tips and advice.

We are delighted that since 2020 we have partnered with the charity Tommy’s to provide additional support to our women & people on their path to parenthood (if they have children by Home AI, fertility treatment, and/or suffer loss such as miscarriage or stillbirth).

We are working on supporting them too in informing them how to support LGBT+ people better in an inclusive way & giving them a better understanding of our paths to parenthood, & the barriers, implications, discriminations & micro-aggressions, triggers & trauma that many of our community face when pregnant, giving birth or suffering loss.

We are now proud members of the VCSE Health and Wellbeing Alliance leading a Maternity Consortium lead by Tommy’s & Sands that includes National Maternity Voices (NMV), the Pregnancy and Baby Charities Network (PBCN) and a number of community organisations including LGBT Mummies. We will use our collective expertise to join up national and local voices behind a common agenda – to reduce health inequalities for families throughout the whole pregnancy journey from pre-conception and through the first year of a baby’s life.

COVID-19 has cast a spotlight on the fragility of maternity safety initiatives as pressure on our stretched health and social care systems increased. We are now working together to help decision-makers ensure that babies are not at a higher risk of death because of postcode, ethnicity, or income.

We as an organisation will be working hard to ensure LGBT+ voices & lived experiences are heard to remove barriers & improve outcomes for our community in maternity care.

LGBT Mummies Midwife

We are incredibly lucky to have our very own Tommy’s Midwife, who supports our community, & does regular Lives, Q&A’s & Takeovers for us!

We have a series of IGTV videos where you can hear from the Tommy’s LGBT Mummies champion, Midwife Sophie:

·       Meet Sophie, our Tommy’s Midwife

·       The fourth trimester

She is available to contact directly through the Tommy’s Pregnancy Hub & you can also forward messages through us if you’d prefer.

Bliss

As Bliss embarks on an ambitious new three-year strategy in 2022, we are so proud to partner them to help more LGBT+ parents and parents-to-be to feel informed about neonatal care, and to know there is somewhere to turn for support should they need it.

With over 100,000 babies born premature or sick and admitted to neonatal care every year in the UK, many families are touched by a neonatal experience. However, many LGBTQIA+ parents feel underrepresented in the neonatal support available and need to know that they aren’t alone. Through this partnership, we will share the stories of more LGBT+ families to shine a light on the diversity of the neonatal experience & support Bliss in becoming as inclusive as possible in the care they provide, to ensure all our community are represented, supported & their journeys recognised.
