Head of Modern families department

Our head of the Modern Families Department, Natalie Sutherland, is considered a leader in the field of surrogacy and fertility law and regularly speaks publicly on these issues and specifically how the LGBTQ+ community can benefit from bespoke and specialised legal advice. Natalie is co-founder and co-host of the award winning In/Fertility in the City podcast which is dedicated to exploring the complex relationship between in/fertility and professional careers and how to manage this effectively. She has regularly interviewed members of the LGBTQ+ community on how their careers were impacted alongside their path to parenthood. Natalie is a member of the Board of Trustees of Progress Educational Trust, a charity which advances public understanding of science, law and ethics in the fields of human genetics, assisted reproduction, embryology and stem cell research.  Natalie is also the current chair of the Advisory Board of the Centre for Individual Identity and Research (CIFI) a dedicated therapeutic service offering consultation by experienced clinicians to donor conceived families, donors, surrogates and their families and others with complex conception or identity stories.
