WELLBEING OF WOMEN- HOUSE OF COMMONS
wellbeingofwomen HOUSE OF COMMONS EVENT-LAUNCH OF PERIOD SYMPTOM CHECKER
Honoured that @lgbt_mummies @whostherealmama was back in Parliament again in the House of Commons to support @wellbeingofwomen who we work with and are involved in with their Health Collective last night.
To be in a room with so many inspiring women, men and people who are advocates for women & people’s health and rights, to celebrate the launch of @wellbeingofwomen “Period Symptoms Checker”.
It was an emotional evening, hearing the impact of so many people’s experiences like @hellohenrietta of living with painful periods, years of misdiagnosis or no diagnosis, and what @wellbeingofwomen are trying to achieve.
The Period Symptoms Checker Tracker is there to support women, girls and people who menstruate to understand their periods, and once they use it, they can then seek further help at GP’s or within Primary Care.
I had excruciating periods when I was a teenager, I would pass out; be sick, and all I was told was to “go on contraception’ as ‘it would help.’
So inspired that in talking openly about the support we all need, @talkswithdrsesay spoke about Trans men and the support they and our LGBTQIA+ community need too.
Wonderful to meet with our friend @kreenadhiman and so many inspiring women @drnighatarif @penny.lancaster @blacknurses_midwives_uk @doctorsgetcancertoo and hear from within Government from @jessphillipsmp @anneliesedodds and @catherine.fookes on their own experiences and how they are supporting change from the inside of Government
Our CEO got to also speak with @anneliesedodds about our collective FertilityJustice campaign and meeting further to get her support around ensuring equality for queer families.
Inspiring room of inspiring people, working together to provide better support and visibility of menstruation and what needs to happen.
After all as @damelesleyregan @proflesleyregan says “It’s not ‘Just a Period’.
