NHS ENGLAND & NHS LONDON AMPLIFYING THE SILENCED VOICES WITHIN MATERNITY CONFERENCE

NHS ENGLAND & NHS LONDON AMPLIFYING THE SILENCED VOICES WITHIN MATERNITY CONFERENCE

.

We were truly honored to have been asked to speak & present at the NHS @nhsengland ‘Amplifying the Silenced Voices Within Maternity’ at @theclermontlondon this afternoon.

.

It was a day full of powerhouse women & people sharing their expertise, work & some lived experiences of being from marginalized minority groups & celebrating the work they do along with areas of improvement & best practise.

.

Unfortunately our Founder couldn’t make the whole day but we’d advised it had been a wonderful day rich in insights!

.

She arrived & spoke about LGBTQ+ experiences in maternity care including her own families, the barriers & implications we face as a community & the recommendations we @lgbt_mummies & Proud Foundations feel need to be made across healthcare, to dispel the systemic discrimination & poor outcomes our community may face, along side the intersectionality of being part of other minority groups & dealing with the barriers & discrimination they face in those spaces too.

.

With a great final speech from Wendy Olayiwola, National Maternity Lead for Equality to end the afternoon, we have hope that we can come together to co-produce change to ensure all women & birthing people have equitable & inclusive access to personalised maternity care- no matter their race, cultural needs, additional needs, gender identity, sexual orientation or experiences.

.

And if you’re interested in hearing more about the other organizations that spoke & presented today check them out they’re all amazing (if we missed anyone please tag them so we can add them!)
